We will watch a stage production of the play All My Sons.  This is both to solidify our knowledge of the play and to create a spring board for discussion about director's choice:  characterization, sets, costuming etc.  There will be an open book quiz on All My Sons on Monday.

I will give you 30 minutes to work on the character charts assigned yesterday.  You may work with a partner.  They've been shared with everyone in the class so check your email if you don't have the assignment.  We will then read Act II.

We will start class off by editing the piece of writing from Monday....looking especially for areas where we can add more detail.  Then we will finish reading Act I today connecting Chris' speech on the war and the "responsibility a man can have to another man" to the final speech in "Saving Private Ryan" and complete an activity on characters.  If there is time then we will move on to act II.

Double class today!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  We will do a short writing exercise on using specifics in our writing to improve interest and clarity...Oh the wonderful adjective so frequently lost... our topic for today is "How much responsibility do we have to look after ourselves and how much responsibility do we have to look after each other?"  Remember that you can respond personally, critically or creatively.

Next we will be looking at responding in groups to some issues from the play we are going to read later in class.  Please see the "considering the issues" assignment.  We will be doing a timed discussion on this (a little like speed dating only with an issue instead of a person).  At the end of this we will be given the texts and choose our roles for reading.  We will start reading the play...maybe even get through Act I!
