We will read chapter 7 and 8 today and then do the check up for chapters 1-8. Vocabulary and spelling quiz.
We will do a quick reading quiz to ensure that everyone read chapter 4 and then we will move on and read chapter 5 and 6. We will discuss the novel as we move along but there are also discussion questions on your classroom to ensure that you are understanding what you need to . Vocabulary for 10 mins and then we will be writing spelling tests everyday this week. The final one on Thursday will count for marks. You can find these spelling quizzes on the assignments section of this web site,
After this we will be sharing our shoes stories and discussing stereotypes. We will be addressing the fact that we make assumptions about people based on their outer appearance. We will read chapters 4 and 5 today. Students need to have their chapter 1-3 questions and their shoes assignment done as soon as possible. After Grammar gambit and vocabulary, we will finish our writing on Shoes assigment
Today we will start class with our vocabulary words from the novel and then continue on with our Grammar Gambit on Homonyms.
We will read chapter 2 and 3 today stopping to discuss similarities in small towns, schools, double standards and empathy. You will spend the last bit of class today writing the "Shoes" assignment...a super fun writing assignment where you get to take on the persona of someone else's shoes. Today we will work on our vocabulary for 10 minutes and then review more homonyms and do our first grammar gambit.
We will spend the first period doing our research for our letters and the second period actually writing our letters. Happy ST. Patrick's Day! Today we worked on our vocabulary and read to the end of chapter one and got started doing some contextual research to write a letter from the 1930s in the Southern United States. This assignment is located in your google classroom.
Today we got started with our new vocabulary and our grammar gambit on Homonyms. We also started reading our novel - To Kill A Mockingbird and ensured that all our writing is submitted for summative assessment.
Your unit exam is today. Your personal essay and writing are due on Monday.
