We will begin class today with our first short writing activity.  Today's topic "Write a piece which looks at a common object from more than one perspective".  Example: Gasoline seems really expensive but can you imagine how much it would cost if your car ran on milk? or liquid paper?  We will be looking at this piece of writing again tomorrow.

We will then read Janice Fein's essay "A New Perspective" and complete the activities assigned.  ELA 30-1 students will also read "Bread" by Margaret Atwood.  We will review the expectations for answering questions.

Finally we will discuss identity and how it is formed and how it impacts our perspectives of the world.  We will read aloud WD Valgaardson's story "Identities" and discuss.  We will watch the video from Jon Stewart about the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and Michael Moore's satirical video on "The Great American Wallet Exchange".  If time we will work on questions...I don't think there will be time
